Clean feed or No Clean feed
by admin on Nov.10, 2008, under Uncategorized
The Australian government is actively seeking to implement a “clean internet feed” for all Australians.

nocleanfeed.com has all the details from a campaign to stop this censorship of the internet in Australia.
Here are some details from their website:
Although the final details of the filtering plans have been kept under wraps, the Minister is on record as being firmly committed to a mandatory clean-feed internet to Australian homes, schools and public computers. A trial of filtering software by the ACMA has already been performed, with a “live” field pilot to follow later this year. We must act fast before millions of dollars are squandered on this technically impractical and democratically unworkable solution in search of a problem.
As a teacher I understand having a clean feed available and most (if not all) systems provide as clean a feed as technically possible for their schools.
As a parent the only true filtering is supervision and having the computer in an accessible area of the house (kitchen) is mandatory in my opinion.
As a citizen I am concerned about where does the filtering/censorship start and end. who decides what is in and what is out, who decides what is acceptable and what is not…..
Challenging questions to which I encourage you to explore and form an opinion and take appropraite action.
If the world could vote?
